Patriots Eye Eighth Straight Win in Rivalry Clash Against Struggling Jets
SCOTTY B (@patsplanetmedia/@patsplanetprez)
Here we go. Itâs Rivalry week.
And guess what???
Iâll be AT THE GAME thanks to Fanatics who Iâm doing a special giveaway with prior to the game at Gillette. Make sure you tune in on YouTube around 7pm est to catch the livestream!
More info TBA tomorrow. Letâs talk predictions!
Iâm not buying trap game. Nah, I think the Patriots steamroll the Jets. The Jets may have won 2 games in a row.. but they also just got rid of their 2 best players 2 weeks ago: Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams – gone. The Jets will also be without their best player on offense (Garrett Wilson).
That wonât help Justin Fields, who just threw for 54 yards last week. Yes. 54. That wasnât a typo. I didnât miss the 1 in front of the 5 there. Not at all. Fields has been terrible. The only chance the Jets have is to take 5 kicks to the house.
In all seriousness.. Justin Fields would have to put up 80-100+ on the ground himself. Breece Hall would need 100. The thing is.. the Patriots are not going to allow the run game to beat them. Theyâre going to dare Justin Fields to throw. And theyâll have to.
Ultimately – I believe it leads to turnovers from the Jets. Watch for a Christian Gonzalez/Carlton Davis INT – maybe both. Sacks galore from the front 7 too.

On offense – Stefon Diggs is going to show up. Know why? Itâs PRIMETIME. Remember what he did in Buffalo on SNF? Iâm expecting a similar performance. And that Drake Maye guy? Heâs about to have one of his best games of the season. And thatâs saying ALOT.
Score: Patriots 41, Jets 13
Player Spotlight: Stefon Diggs 8 rec. 125 yards 2 TDs

The New England Patriots (8-2) are riding high into Thursday Night Football, aiming to extend their seven-game winning streak and solidify their grip on the AFC East with a victory over the rival New York Jets (2-7). Gillette Stadium will host this primetime AFC East showdown, a matchup that historically carries extra weight despite the lopsided records. For the Patriots, under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel, a win would mark their eighth consecutive victory and make Drake Maye the first signal-caller in franchise history other than Tom Brady to achieve that feat.
The Jets, riding their own two game winning streak, are last in the NFL in turnover differential at minus-10. New York enters with the league’s worst passing offense, averaging just 143.8 yards through the air per game, and will be without star wide receiver Garrett Wilson due to a knee injury that sidelines him for at least three-to-four weeks. 3 Keys to a Patriots Victory to secure the win and inch closer to playoff contention, the Patriots must execute on these critical fronts, backed by season-long trends:
- Exploit Man Coverage with Play-Action and Motion: The Jets deploy man coverage on 38.7% of dropbacks (sixth in the NFL), including a league-second 32.6% press-man rate and third-highest man-blitz frequency at 21.2%. New England ranks top-five in play-action usage (28.4%) and has converted 12-of-15 fourth-down attempts (tied for third league-wide), per Reiss. Maye’s quick release should neutralize the blitz, opening lanes for tight end Hunter Henry (30 rec 377 yards 4 TDs)
- Stuff the Run and Limit Breece Hall’s Explosives: New York’s ground game is their lifeline, with running back Breece Hall logging 21 explosive runs (10+ yards, fifth-most in the NFL) on a league-high 51.2% neutral called run rate and fourth-ranked 63.2% run-plus-play-action snaps. The Patriots’ front seven, anchored by Christian Barmore (5.5 sacks), has held opponents to 3.8 yards per carry during their streak, allowing just four rushing touchdowns in the last seven games.
- Dominate Special Teams to Control Field Position: The Jets boast the NFL’s No. 1 special teams DVOA unit, leading kickoff returns at 28.8 yards per return and ranking fifth in punt returns (13.6 yards average), including two return touchdowns last week. The Patriots have been solid on special teams and should be able to keep the Jets out of the endzone on returns, one would hope.
SCORE: Patriots 30, Jets 20
Player Spotlight: TreVeyon Henderson. With Stevenson out and Jennings questionable, the Patriots will look to get the most out of his snaps (I’m thinking around 15). Will he bring another?

The Patriots walk into this AFC East showdown with full confidence and momentum on their side. With TreyVeon Henderson coming off a breakout performance in Tampa Bay, expect New England to lean heavily on him early to establish control. The Jetsâ defense, now without Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner after shocking trades at the deadline, simply doesnât have the firepower to keep up. Once Henderson gets going, itâll open the field for Drake Maye to efficiently spread the ball around and keep the offense humming.
On the other side, the Jetsâ offense looks depleted. Garrett Wilson being out leaves Justin Fields with limited options, and while Breece Hall remains a talent, heâs clearly frustrated in whatâs become the nightmare we call East Rutherford, New Jersey. Without balance, the Jetsâ offense is likely to sputter against a surging Patriots defense thatâs been playing with swagger.
Expect New England to dominate both lines of scrimmage and cruise through this one with statement energy â a total team performance that proves theyâre turning the corner as a complete squad.
Key Predictions:
- Drake Maye: 3 passing TDs, 0 INTs
- Patriotsâ defense: 4 sacks, 2 forced turnovers
Score: Patriots 34, Jets 10
Player Spotlight: TreVeyon Henderson 129 rushing yards, 2 TDs

I donât have any kind of hot take when it comes to this game. The Patriots are better in each and every department. They have a better coach. They have a better quarterback. They have a better roster. Itâs really as simple as that. The Patriots are suiting up in their new NorâEaster jerseys and will deliver the wrath of a storm to the Jets on national TV. Drake Maye will have another MVP showing against a helpless Jets defense that just lost all of their best pieces at the trade deadline and TreVeyon Henderson will build on his impressive showing against the Bucs. Both the passing and rushing attacks will look sharp from start to finish, leading the Pats to a dominating start-to-finish win over their division ârivalâ.
To keep it short and straight to the point, Justin Fields has looked lost this season. This wonât change against the Patriots defense which is rounding into shape and dare I say, should be considered a top-10 defensive unit in football. Especially considering they donât have their most dynamic offensive weapon in Garrett Wilson, I donât see how the Jets score more than 10 points in this ballgame.
Some may think differently, but for me, all roads lead to a bloodbath in Gillette Stadium with the whole world watching.
Score: Patriots 31, Jets 9
Player Spotlight: TreVeyon Henderson – 18 Carries, 128 Rushing yds, 2 TD
