2025 PATRIOTS DRAFT

Grading the Patriots’ 2025 Draft Class: Building a Strong Foundation for the Future

The New England Patriots entered the 2025 NFL Draft with clear priorities: protect Drake Maye, add explosive playmakers, and continue to rebuild the roster with smart, high-upside picks.
Mission accomplished.

The Patriots put together one of their most balanced draft classes in recent memory — addressing the trenches, securing weapons for their young quarterback, and even finding special teams contributors late on Day 3. Here’s a full breakdown of their draft haul and how each selection fits into the team’s future plans.

1st Round, Pick 4: Will Campbell, LT, LSU

Grade: A+
The Patriots wasted no time securing the best offensive tackle in the draft. Campbell brings instant stability to the left side of the line, giving Drake Maye the protection he desperately needs to take the next step in his development. A foundational piece for years to come.

2nd Round, Pick 38: TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State

Grade: A-
While running back wasn’t the most obvious need, the value was too good to pass up. Henderson’s explosiveness and big-play ability add another layer to the Patriots’ evolving offense, and his versatility makes him a dangerous weapon both as a runner and receiver.

3rd Round, Pick 69: Kyle Williams, WR, Washington State

Grade: A-
Williams brings much-needed speed and polish to the wide receiver group. A natural separator with good hands and the ability to stretch the field vertically, he gives Maye another dynamic option to work with.

3rd Round, Pick 95: Jared Wilson, C, Georgia

Grade: A-
Bolstering the interior offensive line was a smart move. Wilson is a technician with experience against top SEC competition and projects as a potential long-term starter at center — or valuable depth at guard if needed.

4th Round, Pick 106: Craig Woodson, S, Cal

Grade: B+
Woodson offers versatility on the back end and will compete immediately for snaps in sub-packages. His physicality, football IQ, and special teams ability make him a valuable addition late in the draft.

5th Round, Pick 137: Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State

Grade: A
One of the best value picks of the draft. Farmer has the athletic profile and production to become a disruptive force inside. He adds young, ascending talent to a defensive line that needed more juice.

5th Round, Pick 146: Bradyn Swinson, EDGE, LSU

Grade: A-
After transferring to LSU, Swinson broke out as a steady pass-rushing presence. His upside as a rotational edge defender is high, and pairing him with Farmer gives the Patriots two explosive front-seven pieces from Day 3.

6th Round, Pick 182: Andres Borregales, K, Miami

Grade: A-
Securing the best kicker in the class was a sneaky important move. Special teams stability often gets overlooked — but not here. Borregales should step in immediately and solve what could have been a lingering issue.

7th Round, Pick 220: Marcus Bryant, OT, Missouri

Grade: B-
Depth at offensive tackle is always a priority, and Bryant offers developmental upside. He’ll have a chance to stick as a swing tackle if he continues to progress technically.

7th Round, Pick 251: Julian Ashby, LS, Vanderbilt

Grade: B-
The Patriots didn’t overthink it — they grabbed one of the top long snappers in the draft class. Ashby should have a strong chance to lock down the role for the next several years.

7th Round, Pick 257: Kobie Minor, DB, Memphis

Grade: B-
With the final pick, New England added a flexible defensive back who will likely need to carve out his initial role on special teams. His versatility and toughness could help him stick around through camp.

Final Grade: A- (3.60 GPA/4)

Top to bottom, this was a strong showing from New England’s front office. Mike Vrabel’s first draft as Patriot’s Head Coach went better than most expected.
They stayed true to their biggest needs early — particularly by locking in a franchise left tackle — but also mixed in some “best available” choices (IMO TreVeyon Henderson). They also managed to find solid players throughout the later rounds. This group won’t just help Drake Maye thrive; it will help the entire Patriots roster take a step forward. Best draft the Patriots have had in a LONG TIME.
