New England Patriots 2025 Roster Breakdown

Quarterbacks

IN: (2 QB)
- Drake Maye
- Joshua Dobbs (F.A. Signed | ’24 San Francisco 49ers)
OUT:
- Ben Wooldridge (UDFA Rookie)
- Jake Willcox (UDFA Rookie/Camp Invite)
Reason: You trade away Joe Milton and you don’t draft a Quarterback in the Draft. You sign Joshua Dobbs in free agency. It’s pretty obvious the Patriots are planning to carry 2 Quarterbacks this season. Unless Wooldridge or Willcox lights the practice field on fire – it’s pretty clear Dobbs will get the nod to be Drake Maye’s backup — brings vet presence.
Running Backs
IN: (3 RB)
- Rhamondre Stevenson
- TreVeyon Henderson (Rookie)
- Antonio Gibson
OUT:
- Lan Larison (UDFA Rookie)
- Terrell Jennings
Reason: New England fans are extremely excited about the TreVeyon Henderson selection in the 2nd rd. He was an absolute playmaker for the Buckeyes. Even while sharing snaps with Quinshon Judkins at OSU – he was able to warrant himself worthy of a 2nd rd pick. He’s a capable 3 down back due to his ability to run, pass catch and even his ability in pass protection. Rhamondre Stevenson will be the Judkins for Henderson obviously, if he can hang onto the football this year. Antonio Gibson will resume his 2024 role – probably losing a fair share of touches to the rookie – especially as the season progresses.
Fullbacks
IN: (1 FB)
- Brock Lampe (UDFA Rookie)
OUT:
- Duane Martin (Minicamp Invite)
Reason: Josh McDaniels is back. Mike Vrabel is the Head Coach. I have a very, very strong feeling that Brock Lampe is going to make this team as our Starting Fullback. Keep your fingers crossed New England! This could be an added dimension to the offense. Could really help get this running game back on track in 2025 – having a diverse set of packages depending on the situation.
Wide Receivers
IN: (8 WR)
- Stefon Diggs (F.A. Signed | ’24 Houston Texans)
- Kayshon Boutte
- DeMario Douglas
- Mack Hollins (F.A. Signed | ’24 Buffalo Bills)
- Kendrick Bourne (ON THE FENCE HERE)
- Kyle Williams (Rookie)
- Ja’Lynn Polk
- Javon Baker
OUT:
- John Jiles
- DeMeer Blankumsee (UDFA Rookie)
- Efton Chism III (UDFA Rookie)
- Jeremiah Webb (UDFA Rookie)
Reason: I know, 8 is a big number when it comes to the WR room. It’s one of those things that we REALLY need to see how training camp plays itself out before deciding on this one. I say that because it’s THAT CLOSE when you get down to the last couple spots in the room. Obviously Diggs, Douglas, Hollins and Rookie Kyle Williams should be considered locks. We’ve heard Boutte trade talk reports – I personally would keep him. Polk/Baker I’m not ready to abandon just yet, but there’s a high probability only one of them makes the team. Kendrick Bourne is also – in my eyes very much a question mark based on his age and competition in the room.
However, I do believe this decision will sort of “be made” for the coaching staff: meaning an injury, unfortunately, will probably help clear things up. I’m listing 8 – but it more likely will be 6 or 7 – I’m just not ready to give up on Polk OR Baker.
(If I had to choose 1 of the 8 listed WR’s to not make the roster though- Kendrick Bourne would be my pick)
Tight Ends
IN: (3 TE)
- Hunter Henry
- Austin Hooper (Re-signed)
- CJ Dippre (UDFA Rookie)
OUT:
- Jaheim Bell
- Jack Westover
- Gee Scott Jr. (UDFA Rookie)
Reason: It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t fit Jaheim Bell in here. Because, like Polk and Baker, I didn’t want to give up on him so quickly. However, I have a strong hunch CJ Dippre is going to develop well. Given his size and ability to pass/run block – I believe he makes this team over Bell. He hasn’t put up crazy numbers as a receiver, but he is enough of a threat in that department to be utilized in the passing game. I believe the Patriots expect him to develop into a balanced receiving/blocking Tight End. Just remember the CJ Dippre name going into camp.
Offensive Line
IN: (9 OL)
REASON FOR OLINE CHOICE WILL BE AFTER RIGHT TACKLE SECTION
Left Tackle (LT)
IN: (2 LT)
- Will Campbell (Rookie)
- Marcus Bryant (Rookie)
OUT:
- Demontrey Jacobs
Left Guard (LG)
IN: (2 LG)
- Cole Strange
- Wes Schweitzer (F.A. Signed | ’24 New York Jets)
OUT:
- Layden Robinson
Center (C)
IN: (2 C)
- Garrett Bradbury (F.A. Signed | ’24 Minnesota Vikings)
- Jared Wilson (Rookie)
OUT:
- Ben Brown
- Charles Turner (UDFA Rookie)
Right Guard (RG)
IN: (1 RG)
- Michael Onwenu
OUT:
- Sidy Sow
- Tyrese Robinson
- Jack Conley (UDFA Rookie)
Right Tackle (RT)
IN: (2 RT)
- Morgan Moses (F.A. Signed | ’24 New York Jets)
- Vederian Lowe (Swing Tackle)
OUT:
- Cole Birdow (UDFA Rookie)
- Caedan Wallace
O LINE REASON: This was a difficult choice to make. Obviously there are many new faces in the Oline room. You have versatility with a few of the players, which is a plus. I’m not sure if any of the cuts were “shocking” but some may view Sidy Sow as such. I do not. Given the newly acquired pieces, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Sow is let go. I also want to make this clear: just because Wes Schweitzer was picked up as a free agent, that does NOT mean he’s a guarantee to make the team. Its a 1 year contract that doesn’t hurt the Patriots cap significantly. If they like what they see from other linemen, he will be let go. I believe he does make the team.. I just felt the need to acknowledge that so people don’t just assume he’s a lock (or anybody who signs a 1 year contract, really)
Defensive Ends
IN: (3 DE)
- Milton Williams (F.A. Signed | ’24 Philadelphia Eagles)
- Keion White
- Bradyn Swinson (Rookie) *HYBRID*
OUT:
- Elijah Ponder (UDFA)
- Truman Jones
Reason: Milton Williams + Keion White + Rookie Bradyn Swinson? That sounds like it equals ALOT of Quarterback pressure. Not much else needs to be said there. Williams and White are proven in the league and the Patriots watched Bradyn Swinson basically fall into their lap. He was expected to go earlier than the 5th round (146 overall).
Defensive Tackles
IN: (3 DT)
- Christian Barmore
- Khyiris Tonga (F.A. Signed | ’24 Arizona Cardinals)
- Joshua Farmer (Rookie)
OUT:
- Jeremiah Pharms Jr.
- Eric Johnson
- Jaquelin Roy
- Wilfried Pene (UDFA Rookie)
- Jahvaree Ritzie (UDFA Rookie)
Reason: I’m sure many Patriots fans share the same views on Christian Barmore. I’m just happy to see him healthy and ABLE to continue living his NFL dream. The blood clot issue was a scary one that truly had put not only his career, but life, in jeopardy. I’m extremely excited that we get him back on the field. They also brought in Khyiris Tonga through F.A. and Joshua Farmer from the draft out of Florida State.
Outside Linebackers
IN: (3 OLB)
- Harold Landry III (F.A. Signed | ’24 Tennessee Titans)
- Anfernee Jennings
- K’Lavon Chaisson (F.A. Signed | ’24 Las Vegas Raiders)
OUT:
- Elijah Ponder (UDFA Rookie)
Reason: Both Landry and Chaisson were brought in early on in free agency to help bolster up this Patriots defense. Landy, coming over from Tennessee, played for Coach Mike Vrabel when he was with the Titans. Anfernee Jennings shouldn’t have an issue making the team as well.
Inside Linebackers
IN: (4 ILB)
- Robert Spillane (F.A. Signed | ’24 Las Vegas Raiders)
- Jack Gibbens (F.A. Signed | ’24 Tennessee Titans)
- Jahlani Tavai
- Christian Elliss (Re-signed)
OUT:
- Monty Rice
- Cam Riley (UDFA Rookie)
Reason: Another former player of Head Coach Mike Vrabel, Jack Gibbens was brought over from Tennessee – just like Harold Landry. Mike Vrabel clearly wanted to coach these guys again. Jahlani Tavai, despite his controversial statements about the New England fanbase being spoiled, I expect to make the team. We almost lost Christian Ellis earlier this offseason; he’s not going anywhere! Spillane is also coming over through F.A. from the Raiders, another promising offseason acquisition for this defense.
Cornerbacks
IN: (6 CB)
- Christian Gonzalez
- Carlton Davis III (F.A. Signed | ’24 Detroit Lions)
- Marcus Jones
- Alex Austin (Re-signed)
- Marcellas Dial
- Kobee Minor (Rookie: Mr. Irrelevant aka Last Pick of Entire Draft)
OUT:
- Brandon Crossley (UDFA Rookie)
- Isaiah Bolden
- Miles Battle
- D.J. James (UDFA Rookie)
Reason: You might think I’m just hoping for a cool story. Mr Irrelevant makes the team! But it’s truly nothing to do with that. Do I think it’ll be a cool story? Of course.. I love the whole “Mr. Irrelevant” last pick – but I actually LIKE the player, Kobee Minor. While I do believe Crossley will give him a run for that last spot in the CB room, I think he’ll get the nod. Newly acquired Carlton Davis should help this secondary take the next step. Gonzo has solidified himself as one of the best in the league already. And even though we didn’t get Travis Hunter, we have our own version in Marcus Jones. And Josh McDaniels is the OC again. So maybe he gets a package on offense here and there? I know, we have enough WRs.. but it’s still cool to see. And Marcus Jones is as good at finding the open field as anybody.
Safeties
IN: (4 SAFETIES)
- Kyle Dugger (Strong Safety)
- Jabrill Peppers (Hybrid Safety)
- Craig Woodson (Rookie) (Free Safety)
- Marcus Epps (F.A. Signed | ’24 Las Vegas Raiders)
OUT:
- Jaylinn Hawkins (Re-signed)
- Marte Mapu
- Dell Pettus
- Josh Minkins (UDFA Rookie)
- Jordan Polk (UDFA Rookie)
Reason: We brought in a rookie, a free agent and we have Peppers coming back. He’ll be looking to leave 2024 in the past, completely. Obviously his off the field drama was no fun for the team to deal with. But, considering he DID come back last season to play, I see no reason the Patriots will move on from Peppers. I expect him, Dugger, rookie Craig Woodson and F.A. acquired Marcus Epps to be the 4 safeties who make the team. Schooler too (as he’s technically listed as a Safety) – but he will be listed in the next section.
Special Teams
IN: (4)
- Kicker: Andres Borregales (Rookie)
- Punter: Bryce Baringer
- Long Snapper: Julian Ashby (Rookie)
- Brenden Schooler (Special Team Ace)
OUT:
- Kicker: John Parker Romo
Reason: Pretty simple. Nothing fancy here. Patriots released longest tenured player Joe Cardona who was a team captain last season and part of the Patriots last Super Bowl victory. Sad moment to see him go. But they like the kid they drafted. Julian Ashby will be the Patriots long snapper for years to come. He’ll need to put on a little bit of weight though. Our kicker will be Andres Borregales (first name pronounced Andy, just so the fans know!)
