Patriots Training Camp Day 6 Recap: Red Zone Work, Diggs Dominates, and O-Line Battles Heating Up
Written July 29, 2025 – by Pats Planet Media (Scotty B)

Day 6 of Patriots Training Camp wrapped up under the hot sun in Foxborough, with the team completing its second consecutive padded practice. The tempo ramped up during red zone work, and we saw continued progress (and pressure) across multiple position groups — from quarterback timing to O-line rotations and wide receiver competition.
Here’s your full breakdown — and make sure to catch the full recap video now up on YouTube.
🔥 Red Zone Emphasis – Mixed Day for Drake Maye
Drake Maye, entering Year 2, had an uneven outing to start the day (no interceptions – just missing throws occasionally) but finished strong. He missed a few throws in the red zone, including one that nearly got picked by Marcus Jones and another that sailed high over Kyle Williams. But to his credit, Maye responded later in team drills — delivering a perfectly placed corner-route TD to Stefon Diggs and showing more command as practice wore on.
🧱 O-Line Rotation & Rookie Momentum
The starting offensive line featured Will Campbell (LT), Cole Strange (LG), Garrett Bradbury (C), Mike Onwenu (RG), and Morgan Moses (RT) to start off the day.
Rookie Jared Wilson is becoming a real storyline. He took first-team reps at both left guard and center again today. He’s impressed the staff with his poise, intelligence, and positional flexibility.
One concern: Bradbury limped off late in red zone drills. No official update yet, but something to monitor.
🧠 Rookie & Depth Watch
- Kayshon Boutte continues to take first-team reps as the X receiver and caught a red zone touchdown. He’s building real trust with the staff.
- Kyle Williams scored a TD but also had a frustrating drop — continues looking good still as a promising rookie.
- Lan Larison hauled in a red zone score and continues making his case among the UDFAs.
- Ja’Lynn Polk returned to action for 2nd straight day and even got punt return reps.
- Austin Hooper was also back in uniform today.
- Brock Lampe was placed on injured reserve, and newly signed LB R.J. Moten wore his old No. 46 during drills.
🩺 Injury Notes & Absences
- Christian Gonzalez (leg sleeve) and Carlton Davis both remained out. Gonzalez is expected back within 7–14 days and isn’t expected to miss Week 1.
- Mack Hollins and Vederian Lowe are still on PUP.
- Josh Minkins returned from NFI list and participated.
🎯 Defensive Notes
With Gonzo and Davis sidelined, Marcus Jones continues to shine — nearly snagging a red zone interception and flying to the ball all day.
Others like Alex Austin, Marcellas Dial Jr., and DJ James saw extended corner reps as the depth gets tested.
🧨 Special Teams
- Andres Borregales handled all kicking duties today 6/6
