Drake Maye Bounces Back Strong on Day 7 | Patriots Training Camp Recap

After a slower start on Day 6, Drake Maye came out firing on Day 7, delivering his sharpest practice of camp so far. The second-year quarterback was in full command, showing confidence, touch, and chemistry with his top targets throughout team drills.
In our full Day 7 Training Camp Recap video, we break down every key moment — including Maye’s 11-of-14 day in 11-on-11s and his best throw of camp: a 40-yard touchdown to rookie Kyle Williams, who continues to shine early in camp.
One of the biggest developments of the day came up front, where rookie Jared Wilson stepped in at left guard with the first-team offense and didn’t miss a beat. Wilson has quietly been stacking impressive days and drew strong post-practice praise from Caedan Wallace and Milton Williams. He’s already showing legit three-position versatility — and he’s starting to look like a real player.
With Garrett Bradbury sidelined, Ben Brown handled center duties, while Cole Strange was bumped to the second unit and even saw reps at center — another potential shakeup worth monitoring.
Elsewhere in the offense, Pop Douglas stayed busy over the middle, TreVeyon Henderson had a bursty gain on a draw, and Lan Larison got first-team action on a screen play for a big pickup. The chemistry between Maye and Stefon Diggs continues to build, and Austin Hooper made a few nice grabs despite a fumble at the end of one screen.
Defensively, K’Lavon Chaisson turned in a disruptive day off the edge, beating Will Campbell on multiple reps. In the secondary, with Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis still not participating, Alex Austin, D.J. James, and Marcus Jones got the bulk of first-team reps.
